Making tools more effective in an enterprise setting for network engineers, software developers and security administrators
With experience in both qualitative and quantitative methods, I use whatever methods will suit a project. My expertise includes conducting usability tests, interviewing, moderating user panel discussions, designing surveys, and direct observation of user behavior.
To maintain the flow of insights, I build and maintain participant panels that can meet for interviews, respond to surveys, do usability sessions, and validate concepts. I've used recruiting firms and regularly enlisted the help of internal teams to keep up with churn and stay ready for the next project.
To quantify key aspects of the user experience, there's no substitute for monitoring user behavior. RUM tools like Pendo and Posthog help build reports on what users clicked and what paths they took through the product. I established the RUM practice at Illumio from scratch. I was the analyst and administrator for all RUM tools.
Using tools like Qualtrics, I designed questionnaires to profile user goals, learn about the environment of target users, and to expose usability issues. I've also used standardized usability scales to benchmark and measure progress.
To free up designers, I can build prototypes and mockups that conform to the design system. Once approved, these can be used for concept validation, feedback, and low fidelity testing. I'm most comfortable in Figma, and I've build visualizations in Observable.
